I grew up around music from an early age, taking piano lessons throughout my childhood and switching to trombone in middle school, which I played through high school in our school's marching band and top level of both orchestra and jazz band. While I loved performing like that, I knew it wasn't the direction I wanted to go with my career. That led me to the world of audio engineering. I received training through Recording Connection, learning at a small studio in Michigan that specialized in vintage gear and mobile recording for choirs and orchestras, where I eventually worked as assistant engineer for about a year. I later moved to Berkeley and studied at SAE Emeryville, where I solidified my existing technical foundation in a setting much closer to a major studio.
Today, I run qb audio out of Oakland, offering mixing and mastering services to independent artists and creators. I specialize in electronic music - deep house, trance, techno, drum and bass, jungle - but I'm open to working on anything. My taste runs wide and deep, from jazz fusion and Japanese city pop to prog rock, synthwave, and dubstep, and I think that breadth genuinely makes me better at what I do. Every genre teaches you something different about how sound works, and all of that ends up in the mix.
Music has always been more than a career path for me, and the best part of this work is helping someone else's music become what they heard in their head. I'm not here to impose my own vision on your project - I'm here to enhance what's already there, to bring out the qualities that make your music yours. Fixing things, polishing things, making things shine - without changing what makes them yours in the first place.
Outside of music, I enjoy spending my time playing pc games (specifically racing sims, strategy games like RTS and 4X titles, space sims, and FPS). Mass Effect, Star Wars, and Stargate are some of my my favorite series and I'm a huge sucker for sci-fi media in general. I also enjoy motorsports and actively follow Indycar, F1, IMSA and MX-5 Cup. Currently, I am learning C++ in my spare time so that I can start developing my own plugins. I have a wonderful partner, Sky, whom I love and support. He's a very talented digital artist and you can check out his own page here!
